THE MOST POPULAR PHOTOGRAPHY MONTHS IN THE MIDWEST
One of the first questions I get asked when someone has a big photography session planned for the year is when is the best time to take their photos. So I thought I would give you a quick breakdown of the most popular times for us here in the midwest (Fargo, ND to be exact) to have their photos done.
OCTOBER IS TO PHOTOGRAPHERS WHAT APRIL IS TO ACCOUNTANTS
Yep, I heard that for the first time last year and it is beyond true, and I mean I cannot really blame anyone cause I absolutely love October too! But with that being said ... book early and be prepared for a quick session as most of us will do back to back sessions in order to fit them all in during the best times of the day (golden hour).
My thoughts on this are yes they are beautiful photos and the colors are usually unmatchable to any other time of the year, but if you have done fall photos every year for the past 5 years you should check out my blog on When To Book - June as this is a month that totally gets under rated when it comes to photography.
Also many of us want to catch the leaves while they are still on the trees and being I have paid very close attention to the leaves and summer weather over the past years and can predict this pretty good (as well as any news reporter plans the 10 day forecast). The downfall is Mother Nature does have a mind of her own and if she decides to add some wind on the day before your session, bye bye beautiful trees.
So in other words, October creates amazing photos! But it can be a bit of a gamble.
AUGUST & GRADUATION PHOTOS
I wish there were more days in August cause that is when all seniors in the midwest want their pictures which again, I do not blame them - August is pretty perfect and by that time most have a decent tan. My biggest piece of advice is BOOK EARLY! No matter what photographer you are going with, this month fills up the quickest. If you missed your chance though, I recommend checking out my pointers for June & July photo sessions to decide on your backup plan.
SLOW MONTHS
In the midwest, we definitely slow down industry wide for portrait photography January thru April so if you are looking for indoor photos, or awesome wintery snow ones - this is your time to keep an eye out for those photo deals!
